This Privacy Policy explains what information the Rahazetu app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Rahazetu you agree to this policy. The app is intended for users aged 18 and over.
Information we collect
- Account information: your phone number, name, username, and a PIN (the PIN is stored only as a secure one‑way hash — we never see your actual PIN).
- Profile content: profile photo, "about" text, and any posts, channels, comments, reactions, or request listings you create.
- Messages: direct messages and support messages you send, including any images you attach. These are stored so conversations work across devices.
- Location text: the region (mkoa) and place (mahali) you type into a listing. This is text you provide — we do not collect GPS/device location.
- Usage data: basic technical data needed to operate the app (e.g. notification token for push).
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
- To show your profile, posts, channels and listings to other users as intended.
- To deliver messages, notifications, and (where applicable) paid features.
- To keep the community safe (content moderation and handling reports).
Sharing & third‑party services
We do not sell your personal data. We use trusted third‑party service providers only to operate core functions of the app (such as secure hosting, push notifications, image hosting, payment processing, and content moderation). These providers process data only as needed to deliver their service.
Information you choose to make public (profile, posts, listings, and contact details you publish) is visible to other users of the app.
Data security
All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. PINs are hashed. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, though no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, which permanently removes your profile, posts, channels, and related data:
- In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account.

Children
Rahazetu is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
